We Won!

We are thrilled to let you know that the commissioners voted in favor of Ponte Vedra Beach early today!  The county will now hire a coastal engineer right away to begin work on our dredging site to get sand back on our beach.  The county is also providing the initial $200,000 toward this effort.  Commissioners Paul Waldron, Henry Dean and Jay Morris voted in favor and Commissioners Jeb Smith and Jimmy Johns voted against.  If you have a minute, please thank Commissioners Waldron, Dean and Morris for their support today.  Their email addresses are listed below.

We want to thank everyone for making this happen. The emails, calls and attendance at the commissioners’ meeting earlier today made all the difference in the world. There is success in numbers!

Next steps will involve continued efforts to get our project fully funded.  This will include the commissioners addressing the bed tax for the county’s northern beaches (including PVB), potentially in one of the August commissioners’ meetings. We will also keep you updated on the county’s upcoming survey plans regarding establishing our municipal entity. Thereafter, accessing state and federal funding will be in the hands of our state and federal lobbying efforts which is generally less of a ground roots effort relative to the actions we have taken at the county level.

Thank you again for all of your hard work! We did it!

I am so glad to know about this group to return our beaches to ’80s width. Please let us know when there is a meeting, need for help, etc.
